Supposedly, the story goes; Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas in the early 1490's and had a run in with the Natives that lived there. However... in this dimension, Christopher Columbus did not land in America, nor were the people he encountered human. The first creature Columbus and his men had encountered were in fact the Morphs. At first, the Morphs were curious of these new beings that came from the sea. A small clan of Morphs went to greet these new-comers and for a time, things were calm and peaceful.
That is, until Columbus and his men witnessed one of the Natives change into a large beast. So terrified they were, that Columbus and his men attacked the small clan of Morphs, slaughtering everyone and keeping the skins and meat to themselves. This was a grave mistake, for a small group of Spirits quietly watched in horror as their fellow In-Humans were killed one-by-one. Unsure of how to oppose these frightening new beings, they spread word of what they had witnessed and the Morphs, Spirits, and Dreamers all came together in rebellion.
One night, when Columbus and his men were fast asleep, the Spirits quietly invaded the camp and stole all their weapons, leaving the humans defenseless. The next morning, Columbus woke to the sound of his men screaming in fear and pain. When Columbus exited his tent, he found the Morphs in their beast forms ripping apart his men and the Dreamers leading the attack with their own strange weapons in hand. The Spirits surrounded the camp, ensuring that no human escaped. Columbus, fearful that such attack might occur, took whoever was left from the battle and escaped through a secret passage. He and the few that escaped took the boats and fled back to whence they came. The In-Humans celebrated. But the war was nowhere near over. Columbus returned with more ships, more men, and more weapons. And so, the war began...
For years the war continued, seemingly endless. The In-Humans had their powers and numbers, but the humans had their weapons and strange technology. The Dreamers began to use the humans weapons against them, but the Morphs and Spirits refused to touch the demonic creations. As the years went by, the Morphs numbers began to dwindle. Something had to be done or else the Morphs would cease to exist. However, the Dreamers hated the humans and wanted every last one of them gone. The Spirits had enough. One day, a few Spirits went to the human's encampment in their tangible form, vulnerable, with their hands in the air. They spoke with the humans and together, they developed a peace treaty. The Spirits told their fellow In-Humans of the treaty. The Morphs quickly agreed but the Dreamers wanted more. A leader from each race gathered for another meeting to try and compromise. It was finally decided that each race would have their own land and keep to themselves. Finally, the war was over.
Or, so everyone thought. On the outside, everyone lived peacefully in their own nation. But behind closed doors, an underground war still raged on...
It is the year 1509, seven years after the 10 year war between the Humans and In-Humans. Each race has their own nation bordering one another; the Dreams, the Morphs, the Spirits, and the Humans. Most keep to their own kind while others live together in peace. The Spirits are the closest to the Humans. The Morphs continue to work on repopulating their race. The Dreamers generally keep to themselves, watching over their brethren. Most of the humans have forgotten about the In-Humans existence, or remain ignorant to it. Others co-exist with them. And there are others still who will find any reason to plant a bullet in an In-Human's skull.
What race you decide to be a part of will determine your overall role in the community. Are you the leader type with a wild imagination that can easily be used against your foe? Or are you of a calmer nature, living off the land and running free? Perhaps you are mischievous and playful, more partial to the darker side of life. Or maybe you like the game, the numerous amount of trophies available for you to obtain. The options are limitless~
Each nation looks very different from the other. The humans live in a very pleasant, homely area where it is lively and busting with everyday, ordinary people. The Spirits live in the darker corner of the map where the buildings are old fashioned and many graveyards can be found where they like to pay respects to their old selves. The Morphs are a bit more primitive, living in huts, tree houses, caves, and the like and utilizing anything they can find. The Dreamers are imaginative, building over old structures or shifting the structures into something better but constantly improving in some way to where there are very few old buildings left. Then, there's the underground... A dark and most unpleasant place to be, a place where the sun does not shine, where all of the worst like to meet and mingle, where people party all hours at the clubs, and where fights or unlawful business occurs.
